Alessandro Scandurra was born in 1968. He started his career dealing with theater settings, when he designed the scenography of the opera Fidelio for the open air Berlin National Opera production which has been performed in Berlin, Paris, Venice and Jerusalem on the occasion of the 3000th anniversary of the Jewish city. In 2001 he formed Scandurrastudio. In 2004 he achieved third place in the competition for the new headquarters for Regione Lombardia in Milano. From 2005 he was in charge of the Corporate image for some Design Companies and has been designing showrooms and stands in Milan, Copenhagen, Moscow, Bejing, New York, Frankfurt and Paris. In recent years Scandurrastudio has developed and concluded various projects. The new Zurich Company Italian Headquarter in Milan has been nominated for the Mies Van der Rohe Award 2011; the Bookshop of La Scala Theater in Milan has been completed in 2008. Scandurra has been taking part in the last two editions of the International Architecture Exhibition at the Biennale di Venezia; he has also set up the exhibition "Gold medal for Italian architecture 2009"; which has been then nominated for the 2011 Compasso d'Oro award. The studio has several ongoing projects such as a three towers housing complex in Milan, and a plant visual mitigation and territorial park in Brindisi. Alessandro Scandurra pursues his professional career in conjunction with researching, publishing and teaching activities. Visiting professor at SUPSI Lugano-based Swiss University since 2005, he has been teaching at the Milan Polytechnic from 2004 to 2007. In 2011 he has been nominated Head of Advisory Board of Portaluppi Founation, and has been charged of the project of Palladio Museum.
