Ren Ito
Ren Ito, a Japanese architect based on Porto, Portugal. He graduated from architecture course of Tohoku University, Sendai Japan, and obtained master degree in urban designing at same university. He was entitled another master degree about sustainable design by Architectural Association school of Architecture, London on 2004. He received a phD degree from Universidade de Lisboa, Lisbon in 2018.
Starting his career at Fujita Corporation from 1999 to 2002, Ren Ito has collaborated with the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira from 2004 to 2011. He collaborated with Joaquim Portela on 2011 and opened his own practice, Ren Ito Arq. in 2011.
He was granted the Japanese Government Overseas Study Programme fellowship for Artists at 2005 and Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar at 2002.
He was awarded the first prize of Architecture at ZERO competition organized by AIA California, U.S.A and the second prize of The Japan Institute of Architects competition 2000 organized by Architectural Association in Japan.
He published Álvaro Siza Design Process from IST Press Portugal and he is co-author of Architects Working Abroad - the world is filled with opportunity published by Gakugei Syuppan, Japan. He also published Álvaro Siza Architect Portuguese from Gakugei Syuppan, Japan.
