   This project is a renovation of an old house in the centre of Porto. The house is located in a part of a row building and it has been converted into four apartments.

   The rather busy street is located in the southern part of the building and the garden in the north. The existing house has three floors: basement, ground floor and the first floor. The basement is in a lower level than the street but also at the same level of the garden in the back side. The ground floor is at the same height of the street. The house has a long form and the challenge was to create four apartments with good lighting and ventilation, maintaining the beauty of the existing elements and privacy.

   The apartment on the ground floor has windows toward the street and to the garden. Just after the entrance door there is a large and spacious living area with a living room, kitchen and dining area. The part next to the street has a platform with higher level, guaranteeing the comfort and the privacy of the living room. In the back side there is a bedroom with quiet environment, bathroom, laundry and 2 large storages.

  At the basement level there is one apartment with access to the garden. A gate creates a private front yard of the house and protected with a keyed doorway. Following the entrance, there is a large living room with kitchen with skylight through the stairwell. The lighting of this house is integrated in the architectural elements, as well as in the furniture, creating a friendly atmosphere. Next to the living room there is a bathroom of service and a suite with private bathroom in the South.

   There are two apartments on the top floors, to the south and north sides. Taking advantage of the attic space, were created mezzanines for the beds. The existing beams were reused as an important element of the houses and with which the lighting was integrated.

The guards with rope were used to ensure the safety at the mezzanines. Both mezzanines have windows next to the stairwell, which has a diamond-shaped skylight. At the lower level of the apartments there is a living room and kitchen.

   In the garden there are four vegetable gardens and BBQ space for each apartment. The roof tiles of the existing house were used to create the vegetable garden. The BBQ spaces are made with rectangular timber, concrete block and zinc cover.

   The building has several specific details such as the "tower" shaped entrance door handle, the diamond shaped skylight and the chimneys of the airplane shaped for BBQ space. The series "Origami Lamp" was used to illuminate the space, providing a friendly atmosphere of the house.

   Este projecto consiste na reabilitação de uma casa antiga no centro da cidade do Porto. A casa situa-se numa parte de um edifício em banda e foi convertida em 4 apartamentos.

   A rua, bastante movimentada, está localizada na parte Sul do edifício e o jardim, na parte norte. A casa existente tem 3 pisos: a cave, na cota inferior da rua e que se encontra ao mesmo nível do jardim nas traseiras, o R/C, na mesma cota da rua, e o piso 1. A casa possui uma forma comprida e o desafio passou por criar 4 apartamentos com boas condições de luz e ventilação, mantendo a beleza dos elementos existentes e a privacidade.

   O apartamento no R/C tem janelas para a rua e para o jardim. Logo a seguir à entrada há um espaço amplo e alto com sala de estar, cozinha e sala de jantar. A parte junto à rua tem uma plataforma com nível mais alto, garantindo o conforto e a privacidade deste espaço. Na parte traseira há um quarto com ambiente sossegado, casa de banho, lavandaria e 2 arrumos amplos.

  No nível da cave há um apartamento com acesso ao jardim. Uma cancela cria um jardim privado em frente à casa e a segurança da mesma é reforçada com uma portada com chave. Seguindo pela entrada, há uma sala ampla com cozinha com clarabóia através da caixa de escada. A iluminação desta casa está integrada nos elementos arquitectónicos, bem como no mobiliário, criando um ambiente simpático. Junto à sala há uma casa de banho de serviço e uma suíte com casa de banho privativa na parte Sul.

   Há dois apartamentos nos últimos pisos, para os lados sul e norte. Aproveitando o vão do telhado, criaram-se mezzanines para a zona das camas. Reutilizaram-se as vigas existentes como elemento importante das casas e com as quais se integrou a iluminação.

As guardas com aplicação de corda foram utilizadas para garantir a segurança do uso das mezzanines. Ambas as mezzanines têm janela junto à caixa de escada, a qual possui uma clarabóia em forma de diamante. Na parte de baixo destes apartamentos existe uma sala e cozinha com a possibilidade de instalar fogão da sala.

   No jardim existem quatro hortas e churrasqueiras para cada fracção. As telhas da casa existente foram utilizadas para criar a horta e as churrasqueiras foram feitas com ripas de madeira, blocos de betão e cobertura em zinco. 

   Foram desenhados vários pormenores específicos para este edifício como o puxador da entrada com forma de “torre” (referência ao nome da rua, “Torrinha”), a clarabóia com forma de diamante e as chaminés das churrasqueiras com forma de avião. A série “Origami” foi utilizada para iluminar o espaço, proporcionando um ambiente simpático da casa.

　このプロジェクトは、ポルトの中心部にある古い住宅を改装したものである。この住宅は、両隣の住宅と一体となった建物の一部であり、この部分を4軒のアパートに改修した。

　建物の南側は人通りのある通りで、北側には細長い裏庭が広がっている。既存の住宅には物置に使われていた地下、前面の通りと同じレベルの1階、その上の2階があり、裏庭は南側の通りより低いレベルにあり、地下と同じ高さにあった。住宅は細長い平面形をしており、20世紀前半に建てられた建物の美しさを残しながら、プライバシーを維持し、日照と換気が良好な4つのアパートをどのようにつくるかが課題であった。

　1階部分のアパートは、通りと裏庭の両方に面した窓がある。エントランスドアを入ると、リビング、キッチンダイニングのある広々としたリビングエリアがある。通りに面した窓の部分の床は一段高くなっており、通りとのレベル差を設けている。上下に分かれた框戸によって、上の部分だけを開けると、光や風を取り入れつつも通りから内部をのぞけないようにすることで、内部の快適さとプライバシーを保証している。裏庭側には、2つの大きな収納とバスルームを備えた静かな環境のベッドルームと、ランドリールームがある。

  地下階にあるアパートからは、庭に直接アクセスすることができる。ポーチを抜け入口に入ると、上階の階段ホールから光を取り入れる天窓のついた、大きなオープンキッチン付きのリビングルームがある。このアパートの照明は家具や建築要素に組み込まれた間接照明になっており、心地よい光環境をつくりだしている。リビングリームの隣にはトイレと、別にある専用のバスルーム付きのスィートルームがある。

　最上階には南側と北側に2つのアパートがある。屋根裏スペースを利用した、メゾネットとなっており、既存の梁は重要な空間要素として再利用され、照明が埋め込まれている。メゾネットの端にはあやとりのような形をしたロープによる柵が取り付けられている。両方のメゾネットには、ダイヤモンド型の天窓のある階段ホールにつながる窓があり、ここから自然光を取り入れている。メゾネットの下には、リビングルームとキッチン、バスルームがある。

　庭には、各アパートのための4つの家庭菜園とバーベキュースペースがある。家庭菜園は既存の屋根瓦を使ってつくられており、バーベキュースペースは木材、コンクリートブロック、亜鉛を使用してつくられている。

　照明にはRen Ito Arq. デザインによるオリガミランプが使用され、間接照明による優しい空間の雰囲気を生み出している。
