After a very early debut on the Italian art scene, he was selected for the 10th Rome Quadriennale and awarded the Lubiam Prize in 1975. In 1982, he was invited by Luigi Carluccio to the Venice Art Biennale, continuing a research path that balances poetic vision and design discipline.
He trained between Florence and Chicago, where he collaborated with studios such as SOM and Stanley Tigerman, and exhibited in galleries like the N.A.M.E. Gallery. Upon returning to Italy, he founded Oxido in Milan—a gallery and brand that marked the season of neo-eclecticism.
Since 1986, first with Studio Gianni Veneziano and later, from 2007, with the Veneziano+Team studio—now Di Virgilio Veneziano—he has collaborated with some of the most prominent companies in Italian design, deepening the languages of contemporary living.
In 2009, the Triennale di Milano hosted Il Segno dei Designer, a project he curated, now part of the museum’s permanent collection. In 2013, he presented his first solo exhibition at the Triennale with Daysign, which later inspired a television format for RAI 5. In 2021, he founded La Casa dei Disegni, a project devoted to drawing as a form of thinking, archiving, and storytelling.
Since 2017, he has served as an Italian Design Ambassador for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Gianni Veneziano is an Architect and Founder of the Di Virgilio Veneziano studio and La Casa dei Disegni. Since the beginning of his career, Gianni Veneziano has explored the boundaries between visual languages and design. His work moves between graphic culture, spatial vision, and narrative tension, tracing a path through contemporary art, architecture, and design.
