Ana da Franca
Ana da Franca (born in Porto, Portugal) graduated in Architecture from the Universidade do Porto and achieves a Master's degree in Intervention Methodologies in Architectural Heritage by FAUP, Portugal. Her first work as an architect was in the project of the Pavilion of the Future for 1998 Lisbon World Exposition, and in the same year founded Franca Arquitectura, where has been working as principal architect.
Besides the architectural development and interior design, the office commits on rehabilitation, guided by the passion in intervening in the built city, and has won several awards through its path, like:
- National Real Estate Award 2019 - Best Building / Energy Efficiency and Best Building of the Year - Honorable Mention;
- International Architecture Award 2019 - First Prize Residential Category;
- 2020 A-Z International Architecture Design Awards - HABITATS '20 category - Jury Commendation;
- 2020 Portugal Prestige Awards - Architecture Firm of the Year - Winner;
- 2020 Architect of the Year Awards - Winner, Honorable Mention and Runner-up;
- 2021 Baku International Architecture Award - Winner.
In a global universe of over 270 projects, its work is mostly constructed in Portugal mainland and Azores, but it also has established an international experience, in Switzerland.
Ana is passionately involved in all phases of design, centered on residential, tourist and office typologies. In july 2002, joined the team of the Portuguese Architects Association, where worked as post-adviser in public contests. Nowadays as an expert in the new regulation of urban lease, Ana represents the north section of this Association.
She participates in various conferences and seminars, such as Patorreb - pathologies and rehabilitations of buildings, and often writes for magazine issues.
