The 4-storey housing replaces a building from the sixties, which was no longer usable, allowing doubling the living and floor area. The building hosts 96 student apartments which starting from 2025 are planned and optimized in such a way to welcome elderly users: the change regarding the building inhabitants has been planned to address the demographic aging projection of the local population. In order to adapt to this planned change of users and their needs, the layout has been designed and optimized to provide flexibility: the design of both rooms and interiors is outlined so that only small changes will have to be made. The potential of using the ground floor as well as the upper levels for social exchange and individual or group activities, awards the building with an integral advantage as center for exchange between generations and as accelerator for an improved sociality for the entire area.

Il progetto prevede realizzazione di una casa per studenti in sostituzione di un edificio costruito negli anni ’60 con geometrie e dimensioni che lo rendono oggi non utilizzabile e non ristrutturabile. La sostituzione, nello stesso terreno, con un nuovo edificio compatto a 4 e 5 piani di alloggi e spazi per servizi raddoppia la superficie e il numero di abitazioni.  Gli alloggi e gli spazi sono progettati per alloggiare 96 studenti, ma sono studiati e ottimizzati anche per essere residenza per persone anziane a partire dal 2025. L’organizzazione degli spazi e degli arredi è studiato per minimizzare le modifiche ed i lavori edilizi al momento del cambiamento di gestione; in entrambe le fasi di vita dell’edificio una serie di spazi e alloggi possono essere adibiti ed attrezzati per servizi (lavanderia, spazi di incontro, e di studio, laboratori e atelier di lavoro) ed essere riconvertiti per altre attività o nuovamente per uso abitativo. La potenzialità di ospitare prevalentemente al piano terra, ma anche ai piani superiori esposti ad est e nord, spazi per il lavoro, rende l’edificio un catalizzatore di socialità e di incontro intergenerazionale per tutto il quartiere.
