Bernd Kestler was born near Frankfurt, Germany in 1964. Bernd works predominantly in the medium of knitting, but includes other crafts and materials for his lace lights sculptures. Bernd studied 'Regional Science – Modern Japan' at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf/ German. He has completed several classes in hand-knitting at the Nihon Vogue Knitting School in Yokohama. Since 1998 he lives and works in Japan.
