Our studio focuses primarily on functionality, logic, coherence, and architectural simplification for today’s contemporary inhabitant. The studio was born out of a philosophy originating from a certain complexity and disorder. Which overlap. The process consists of cleaning and ordering these layers of thought, until a final proposal is achieved which is as clear, concise, and efficient as possible. When we think about living in the present, this process makes more sense, given an architectural intervention is usually an act of liberation. It is about taking away, rather than of adding.

Thanks to a certain amount of interest in ruins, an architectural intervention applied to traditional architecture, must always contend with by an initial resistance to loss. The first visit to the site in question is always very exciting, in many ways, it’s the best of our job. Being able to access spaces that have been frozen in time, which still exude the stories of its past. Our work is always challenged with absolute respect for what already exists. We do not try to recover or manipulate excessively, nor of course do we try to imitate; it is about taking in the state in which we find the building and adding a new differentiated layer while applying a contemporary edge to it; trying to make the existing, the centre of attention, rather than the new. It is a decision and an attitude geared towards the construction process: sustainability is about conserving and reusing, generating the minimum amount of waste possible. This is how we understand and apply sustainability in our projects, in a simpler and more modest way.
