Binocle

Lorenzo Bini was born in Milan, Italy in 1971. Educated at the Politecnico di Milano and at the Statens håndverks og kunstindustriskole of Oslo, he graduated in architecture in 1998 and worked for different practices in Milan. In 2000 he moved to The Netherlands to work as a senior architect for West8 Urban Design & Landscape Architecture. In 2003 he returned to Milan and co-founded studiometrico, an architecture practice that he has been directing until 2011, when he started a new office: BINOCLE. Lorenzo has lectured in various European schools and teached architecture at the Politecnico di Milano between 2003 and 2011. In the last 10 years Lorenzo continuously worked on the transfomation of existing buildings and places and attempted to contribute with his commitment to bridge architectural practice and teaching. The City of Milan is the base, the ground, the source, the center and the boundary of Lorenzo Bini’s work. [IT] Lorenzo Bini è nato a Milano nel 1971, ha studiato al Politecnico di Milano ed alla Statens håndverks og kunstindustriskole di Oslo, Norvegia. Dopo essersi laureato in architettura nel 1998 ed aver collaborato con diversi studi milanesi, nel 2000 si è trasferito in Olanda dove ha lavorato come architetto per West 8 Urban Design & Landscape Architecture. Di ritorno a Milano, nel 2003 ha co-fondato e diretto studiometrico fino al 2011. Lo stesso anno Lorenzo ha dato vita ad una nuova struttura professionale: BINOCLE. Lorenzo ha presentato il proprio lavoro tenendo conferenze in diversescuole europee ed ha insegnato architettura al Politecnico di Milano dal 2003 al 2011. Negli ultimi 10 anni Lorenzo si è occupato della trasformazione di edifici e luoghi esistenti attraverso gli strumenti dell’architettura ed ha cercato di contribuire con il proprio impegno alla costruzione di un ponte ideale tra professione e didattica. La città di Milano è la base, il territorio, la risorsa, il centro ed il confine del lavoro di Lorenzo Bini.
