The building is resting on top of a hill overlooking the farm on which it is built. It responds to a dual role: artist’s studio and home for the family. Observation of the territory, with the presence of mud houses, and theair chromatic relationship with the surroundings, the idea of using the “hollow flat” brick, widespread element in the contemporary construction techniques and produced in a furnace in the present the area. The “tiles” clay, once divided, were applied on the facades and the roof forming the final image of the product. The purity of form continues, further simplifying the shape of barns and houses in the area of land extensively. Inside the space was a rectangular wooden built a habitation module with standard elements in poplar, which divides in two the total volume. It includes the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and the library. On the north-east of the Study-House, the interior floor concrete industry continues without interruption on the outside with aprojection which houses a swimming pool. The windows are designed to provide a horizontal light in the studio and at the same time, they frame the scenic landscapes of particular beauty. The views, the organization of open spaces and the visual relationship between inside and outside (the windows as frames of the landscape) strengthen the relationship with the genius loci of the intervention. A simple gravel road connects to the entrance of the property-Study House. The project was carried out in a field on which are cultivated cherry, walnut and olive trees.

L’edificio è poggiato sulla sommità di una collina che domina il podere sul quale è costruito. Esso risponde a una duplice funzione: studio d’artista e casa per la famiglia. Dall’osservazione del territorio, con la presenza delle case di fango, e dal loro rapporto cromatico con l’intorno, nasce l’idea di usare la “tavella” in laterizio, elemento diffuso nella tecnica costruttiva contemporanea e prodotto in una fornace presente in zona. Le “tavelle” in laterizio, una volta divise, sono state applicate sulle facciate e sulla copertura costituendo l’immagine finale del manufatto. La purezza formale riprende, semplificandola ulteriormente, la forma dei fienili e delle case di terra diffusamente presenti nella zona. All’interno dello spazio a pianta rettangolare si è costruito un modulo abitativo in legno con elementi standard in pioppo, che divide nettamente in due il volume complessivo. Esso comprende la cucina, i bagni, le camere e la biblioteca. Sul lato nord-est della Study-House, il pavimento interno in cemento industriale prosegue senza interruzione all’esterno con un aggetto nel quale è alloggiata una piscina. Le finestre sono state concepite per fornire una luce orizzontale all’interno dello studio e allo stesso tempo esse inquadrano dei panorami di articolare suggestione paesaggistica. Le viste, l’organizzazione degli spazi aperti ed il rapporto visivo tra interno ed esterno (le finestre come cornici del paesaggio) rafforzano il legame dell’intervento con il genius loci. Una semplice stradina in pietrisco collega l’ingresso della proprietà alla Study-House. Il progetto è stato realizzato in un terreno agricolo sul quale si coltivano ciliegi, noci e ulivi.
