LA LOGE DE L'ÉCOLE RICAUT / THE LODGE AT SCHOOL RICAUT | Sarah BITTER

Initially recognizable by its bright color, this micro-architecture will be an urban anchoring point in terms of esthetics and access. The school has a true entrance setup. Simultaneously playful and functional, it is weaving links into the neighborhood by means of a striking façade. The «Big Eight», the street address, is eye-catching and gives children a fun and dynamic image of their school, inviting them to enter. On the courtyard, the façade opens or closes to the rhythm of the school’s time slots. The yellow module of the new lodge fits into the openings of the building, just like the toy building blocks used by children. Prefabricated with a light wood frame, brightly colored Corian® panels clothe this structure with a smooth cladding that enhances existing tones. Inside, all the elements necessary for comfort are integrated into the architecture to free up the central space and niches simulate the contrasting play of yellow and white of the Corian® outside. Working simultaneously on the volume (high ceiling), the colors and the quality of light (natural and artificial) creates an airy and fun place. ------------------------ D’'abord identifiable par sa couleur vive, cette micro architecture vient poser un point d’'ancrage urbain, en termes esthétique et d'’accès : l’'école se voit marquée d'’une véritable séquence d'’entrée. A la fois ludique et fonctionnelle, la nouvelle loge permet de tisser des liens avec le quartier par une façade « signal ». Le «grand huit», l’'adresse, attire le regard et donne aux enfants une image gaie et dynamique de leur école, les invitant à entrer. Sur cour, la façade joue de sa casquette au rythme des plages horaires de l’'école. Le module jaune de la nouvelle loge vient s’emboîter dans les ouvertures du bâtiment, à l’image des jeux de construction des enfants. Préfabriquée en structure bois légère, des panneaux de Corian® de couleur vive réhaussent les tons existants. A l'intérieur, tous les éléments nécessaires sont intégrés à l'architecture pour libérer l’'espace central et des niches rappellent le jeu de contrastes jaune et blanc du Corian® extérieur. Un travail simultané sur la volumétrie (grande hauteur sous plafond), la colorimétrie et la qualité de la lumière (naturelle et artificielle) crée un lieu aéré et gai.
