Renovate an apartment in the center of Taormina is not so easy.
Constraints, superintendence, boundary distances, neighborhood, vehicular traffic, are factors affecting the free expression.
Design an apartment of just 25 square meters, and make it livable for 4 people could be a fruitless exercise of style.
Ensure every comfort without reduce all the conveniences offered by various appliances (dishwasher, washer-dryer, ice maker, freezer, etc.) is very difficult. Give a sense of emptiness trying to get close to a reductionist line probably impossible. Well, this is the challenge that I accepted for the project of Taormina's house, Space is luxury. The house is called, even on intercom, "Space is luxury", for its unusual characteristics of space.
Just 25 square meters that provide a comfortable space for its four occupants without resizing any comfort.
At first, my wife and I, just married, were desperately looking for a house in Taormina, one of those dreams, with terrace and view over the sicilian rooftops. The search went on for twelve years, until our two daughters, became two pert of twelve years old, that at last pushed me to take house, explaining to me that beauty shines more in the hearts of who wish it than in the eyes of who see it. Brick, concrete and a lot of will made home.
Now the new problem was that the house was not any more just to a couple in love, to tighten together two hearts in a hut, but it had to accommodate also the hormonal gusts of two effervescent girls in pre-adolescent age. The space risked to be stingy, but some generous architectural solutions now allow us to live comfortably in this house incredibly at all four of us.
The terrace and the view over the rooftops of Taormina are the setting of house. "Space is a luxury," it possible to read the inscription under a bed that disappears into the ceiling, through a lifting system, ready to give the necessary space for daytime activities An infix facing on the terrace that when is open becomes a comfortable table while when it is closed becomes infix again.
