MO*town Track 8 | De Zwarte Hond
Can there be good living in an office district? Amsterdam / Netherlands
Sloterdijk is a relatively young district that will change over the coming years from a business area to a fully-fledged new city neighbourhood with a wide mix of functions. The urban development plan of the City of Amsterdam is exciting, ambitious and of high quality. Sloterdijk will become a vibrant neighbourhood with the international allure associated with Amsterdam. Offices around Sloterdijk station will be transformed into homes and various plots are being made available for housing. On one of these, the so-called ‘lot O’, De Zwarte Hond has made the sketch design for Track 8, a housing project with 82 homes and 1.000 m2 of facilities.
The project focuses on co-commissioning. In this way, residents can put their own stamp on the building, creating a strong connection even before the project is completed. The shape of the building, the communal gardens and the outdoor spaces ensure that people meet each other and want to linger. The connection with the ground level and the way the plinth is implemented are designed to facilitate interaction. A basement garage with space for 30 (shared) cars will be built underneath the building.
