Architectural regeneration of a property with no identity in the peri-urban area of the city of Morbegno that relates in proximity to modest interventions and secondary infrastructure and in the distance to an incredibly beautiful and rugged mountain landscape.

The single-family building was renovated with different types of intervention: with a conservative criterion, thanks to reinforced concrete consolidations on the ground floor, and with a contemporary approach on the first floor, where the construction technology was refined with the aid of lightweight wooden frame façades which were subsequently covered.

The roof pitches were entirely reconstructed with the aim of bringing the living comfort of the main floor to excellence; the new insulation stratigraphies but especially the new sheet metal layer, in addition to covering the two sloping pitches, were repurposed vertically on the elevations of the reconstructed second floor, as if to delineate a "second skin" and create a suspended protective element.

The roofing slabs were made of "Prefalz" aluminum with double standing seam in regular bands, while the facade cladding was made of a PREFA "a Zeta" extruded aluminum alloy profile with a painted surface in the same color 01 P.10 used in the roof pitches.

The minimalist form is designed by the extension of the outline of a large gable with an off-centre ridge due to the only overhang on the south front; it is from the extension of this that the generous covered terrace was created, which can be enjoyed for at least six months of the year as a true 'domestic prosthesis' of the living and kitchen areas.

As a result of the comparison on landscape compatibility, the grid of grey-blue painted wooden beams was introduced, whose - purely aesthetic - function might even seem load-bearing to most; their inclined course expressly sought a compositional break with the innovative and linear design of the 'Zeta' profile.

Once the volumes were reproportioned, the rest of the envelope finishes were adopted by marrying their nature with the characterizing colors of the metal partitions; which is why the stone thresholds were chosen from quartzites tending to blue-gray, the exterior and interior fir wood matchings and all metal inserts such as aluminum windows, fences, sectional doors and parapets, were painted tone-on-tone.

The façade shades visible mainly on the ground floor, were purposely proposed neutral to give greater prominence to the detailing finishes; finishes that were thought out by design and became protagonists in practical and aesthetic terms with the recognizable peculiarity of emphasizing the solids and voids designed to balance the discontinuous and anonymous composition of the original building.

La rigenerazione architettonica di un immobile privo di identità si colloca in una zona peri-urbana della cittadina di Morbegno dove la preesistenza si rapporta in prossimità con interventi modesti e infrastrutture secondarie ed in lontananza si completa con scenari montani incredibilmente belli ed "aspri".  Nasce tutto dall'intento di creare un "segno distintivo" in grado di dare lustro all’attività di famiglia dei proprietari che, da due generazioni, fornisce ad artigiani ed imprese svariate personalizzazioni di lattonerie e lamiere.

L'edificio monofamiliare è stato ristrutturato grazie a tipologie d'intervento diversificate: con un criterio conservativo per i consolidamenti in cemento armato al piano terra, con un approccio contemporaneo per l'affinamento della tecnologia costruttiva delle facciate leggere in legno, successivamente rivestite al piano primo.

Le falde di copertura sono state interamente ricostruite con lo scopo di portare all'eccellenza il comfort abitativo al piano nobile; le nuove stratigrafie di coibentazione e soprattutto il nuovo manto di lattoneria, oltre a rivestire le due falde inclinate, sono stati riproposti verticalmente sui prospetti del piano ricostruito, quasi a delinearne una “seconda pelle” con la funzione di elemento protettivo sospeso.  

Il manto di lattoneria in falda è stato realizzato in alluminio “Prefalz” con doppia aggraffatura, mentre il rivestimento in facciata è stato realizzato con profilo in lega di alluminio estruso PREFA “a Zeta” con superficie verniciata dal medesimo colore 01 P.10 usato in copertura. 

La sagoma minimale è disegnata dal prolungamento della silhouette di un grande timpano con colmo decentrato per via del solo sbalzo sul fronte sud;  è dal prolungamento dello stesso che si è ricavato il generoso terrazzo coperto che, per almeno sei mesi l'anno, è godibile come vera e propria "protesi domestica" delle destinazioni living e kitchen.

A posteriori del confronto sulla compatibilità paesaggistica è stata introdotta la griglia di travi in legno verniciato di color blue-gray, la cui funzione solo estetica, ai più potrebbe addirittura sembrare portante. Il loro andamento inclinato ha espressamente cercato una rottura compositiva nei confronti dell’innovativo e lineare design del profilo “a Zeta”, quasi a cercare un collegamento con i boschi tipici colonnari delle conifere di media montagna.

Riproporzionati i volumi, il resto delle finiture dell'involucro sono state adottate sposando la loro natura con i colori caratterizzanti le partizioni metalliche;  motivo per cui le soglie in pietra sono state scelte tra le quarziti tendenti al blue-gray, le perlinature in legno di abete e tutti gli inserti metallici tipo serramenti in alluminio, recinzioni, porte sezionali e parapetti, sono stati verniciati tono su tono.

Le tinte di facciata visibili perlopiù al piano terra, sono state proposte appositamente neutre per dare maggior risalto alle finiture di dettaglio, finiture pensate a disegno e diventate protagoniste in termini pratici ed estetici con la riconoscibile peculiarità di enfatizzare i pieni e vuoti studiati per equilibrare la composizione discontinua ed anonima dell'edificio originario.
