In Wattens, Austria, a public-private partnership inaugurated the former Swarovski factory compound “Werk 2”. The project, a collaboration between obermoser + partner architekten and Schlögl & Süss, brought the building to new life with a cautious intervention of restauration and re-use.
The polishing workshops from 1906 changed their former function, converted into an international center for founders and young start-up companies including offices and workshops. The intervention consisted in freeing the former industrial structure from posthumous additions, recovering spatial sequences and finally adding new spatial elements, clearly distinguishable.
