Art in real contact with nature.

Andy is a visual artist who loves painting while watching the Pampean plains of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Atelier-A is her working station, within a woodland of acacias that cast mesmerizing shadows on the translucent-fabric roof of the building. 

The building is set in a large rural area near the town of 25 de Mayo, surrounded by crops and polo horses. The landscape is widely perceived from the interior: not only by the beautiful views granted by the wide, glazed facade, but also by the movement of leaves, wind and birds that show on the roof.  Overhead, sieved, natural lighting is a constant, allowing creativity to flow in the space as the day passes. In the evening, the roof lights up and acts as a lantern and a guide for anyone approaching the building or the farm.

Recovered wood from a neighboring vivarium dating from the mid XX century develops as the indoor and outdoor envelope for creative thinking.  It is a rough, worn wood that blends with the trunks of trees and posts.

In addition, the glazing used is mirrored, in order to reflect the landscape and dissolve in it.

The building is divided into two volumes separated by a courtyard.  It has a main space with a resting area and a large sink to make the artistic experience very flexible, and a bathroom and storage module.  Volumes don’t touch, but are separated by a slit of air. Through it, the wide landscape which is later revealed once inside the atelier, can be spied-on while standing in the triangular entrance courtyard. Once inside, a platform extends towards the horizon, as an outdoor working space.

Due to enhanced natural lighting and a very well insulated envelope, the building uses very little energy and works completely off-the-grid.

Andy es un artista visual que ama pintar mientras observa las llanuras pampeanas de la provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Atelier-A es su estación de trabajo, dentro de un bosque de acacias que proyectan sombras fascinantes en el techo de tela translúcida del edificio.

El edificio está emplazado en una amplia zona rural cercana a la localidad de 25 de Mayo, rodeada de cultivos y caballos de polo. El paisaje se percibe ampliamente desde el interior: no solo por las hermosas vistas que otorga la amplia fachada acristalada, sino también por el movimiento de las hojas, el viento y los pájaros que asoman en la cubierta. La iluminación natural cenital y tamizada es una constante, lo que permite que la creatividad fluya en el espacio a medida que pasa el día. Por la noche, el techo se ilumina y actúa como farol y guía para cualquiera que se acerque al edificio oa la finca.

La madera recuperada de un vivero vecino que data de mediados del siglo XX se desarrolla como la envolvente interior y exterior para el pensamiento creativo. Es una madera tosca y desgastada que se mimetiza con los troncos de árboles y postes.

Además, el acristalamiento utilizado es espejado, para reflejar el paisaje y disolverse en él.

El edificio se divide en dos volúmenes separados por un patio. Dispone de un espacio principal con zona de descanso y un amplio lavabo para flexibilizar la experiencia artística, y un módulo de baño y almacenaje. Los volúmenes no se tocan, sino que están separados por una rendija de aire. A través de él, el amplio paisaje que luego se revela una vez dentro del atelier, puede ser espiado desde el patio triangular de entrada. Una vez dentro, una plataforma se extiende hacia el horizonte, a modo de espacio de trabajo al aire libre.

Debido a la iluminación natural mejorada y una envolvente muy bien aislada, el edificio utiliza muy poca energía y funciona completamente fuera de la red.
