IIn the heart of Rome’s famous Trastevere district where time has stratified on the ‘skin’ of the buildings, Lead House is a 50 sqm flat suspended between its pre-existing historical aura and the contemporary devising of the spaces. Three connecting rooms confer a planning design continuum to the interior of the flat. The passage from one area to another is marked by varied surfaces that frame the different points of view in the house. The wrappings and the white carpentry are the canvas upon which are set the single exceptions: coloured walls, wall paper, recovered decorations. The demolitions were finalized to the creation of a central living area which has become the heart of the house. In the same way, the openings in the supporting walls widen the room giving an opportunity to the kitchen and the bed room to ‘participate’ in the central area.

Nel cuore del quartiere Trastevere di Roma dove il tempo si stratifica sulla “pelle” degli edifici, la “Lead House” è un interno di 50 mq. in bilico fra sapore storico della preesistenza e ideazione contemporanea degli spazi. Tre ambienti in relazione fra di loro conferiscono un continuum progettuale alla vita all’interno della casa. Il passaggio da uno spazio all’altro è segnato da superfici sempre diverse che incorniciano i differenti punti di vista della casa. L’involucro e le falegnamerie bianche sono la tela su cui adagiare le singoli eccezioni: pareti colorate, carta da parati decorata, arredi di recupero. Le demolizioni sono state finalizzate alla creazione di un living centrale che diventa il cuore vero della casa. Allo stesso modo le apertura dei varchi sui muri portanti ampliano l’ ambiente facendo “partecipare” la cucina e la camera da letto allo spazio centrale.
