Blaas snc | monovolume architecture + design

In the centre of the industrial heart of Bolzano, Bolzano South, lies the headquarters of the Blaas company.

The homogeneous and compact overall impression of the building nevertheless allows for a clear visual distinction of the different areas on the inside. Like a cloud, the private areas with offices and workshop float above the public part and thus appear weightless and protective at the same time, despite the solid concrete. Vertical slats lend intimacy to this part and at the same time are an eye-catcher for the project. The all-glass facade offers glimpses into the public areas, thus creating a connection to the outside world and inviting passers-by into the building. The contrasting design of the areas makes it appear robust and solid by day, and light and luminous by night.

An atrium in the centre of the building allows additional light to flood through the spaces, and a green courtyard provides space for recreation and rest.

The extension of the building in 2020 took the architecture and formal language of the original design and translated it into the present. The transparency of the public areas continues along the street, allowing even greater views and optimised product staging. A rationalist architecture gives the remaining facades a new design that nevertheless blends harmoniously with the existing building. Tree planting on the roof of the extension creates a more pleasant microclimate and visually enhances the entire area even further.

In der Schwebe
Inmitten des industriellen Herzens von Bozen, der Zone Bozen Süd, findet sich der Hauptsitz der Firma Blaas.

Aus dem homogenen und kompakten Gesamteindruck des Baus ergibt sich klar die innere Gebäudeaufteilung. Einer Wolke gleich schwebt der private Teil mit Büros und Werkstatt über dem öffentlichen Teil und wirkt so trotz des massiven Betons schwerelos und schützend zugleich. Sonnenschutzlamellen verleihen diesem Teil Intimität und sind gleichzeitig Blickfang für das Projekt. Die Ganzglasfassade bietet Einblicke in die öffentlichen Bereiche und schafft somit eine Verbindung zur Außenwelt und lädt Vorbeikommende ein, einzutreten. Durch die kontrastierende Gestaltung der Bereiche wirkt das Gebäude bei Tag robust und solide, bei Nacht leicht und hell.

Ein Atrium in der Gebäudemitte lässt zusätzliches Licht durch die Räumlichkeiten fluten und ein begrünter Innenhof bietet Raum für Erholung.

Die Erweiterung des Gebäudes im Jahr 2020 nahm die Architektur und Formensprache des ursprünglichen Entwurfs auf und übersetzte sie in die Gegenwart. Die Transparenz der öffentlichen Bereiche zieht sich entlang der Straße fort und lässt noch größere Einblicke und optimierte Produktinszenierung zu. Eine rationalistische Architektur verleiht den restlichen Ansichten eine neue Formensprache, die sich dennoch harmonisch an das bestehende Gebäude anschmiegt. Baumbepflanzung auf dem Dach des Zubaus schafft ein angenehmeres Mikroklima und wertet die gesamte Gegend optisch noch weiter auf.

Movimento in aria
Nel cuore dell’area commerciale di Bolzano, a Bolzano Sud, si trova la sede della società Blaas.

La struttura solida e compatta dell’edificio si differenzia per il suo carattere scultoreo rispetto agli altri edifici vicini. L’area privata con gli uffici e l’officina è situata sopra l’area di vendita aperta al pubblico, ricorda la leggerezza di una nuvola ed appare senza peso e protettiva allo stesso tempo, nonostante il solido materiale di cemento. Le lamelle verticali garantiscono intimità e ripropongono in tutto il progetto linee pulite e lineari. La facciata principale in vetro offre scorci verso gli spazi dedicati al pubblico, creando così una connessione con il mondo esterno e invitando i passanti ad entrare. Il forte contrasto di design delle aree fa apparire l'edificio robusto e solido di giorno, e leggero e luminoso di notte.

Al centro dell’edificio, la luce naturale illumina tutti gli spazi interni grazie ad un ampio lucernario sinuoso. Nell’atrio centrale si trova un cortile verde, uno spazio per il riposo ed i momenti di pausa.

Nel 2020, l’edificio è stato ampliato ed il linguaggio formale del progetto originale è stato interpretato in chiave contemporanea, utilizzando pannelli in cemento lasciati a vista. L’area di esposizione dei prodotti è stata ampliata, prolungano la facciata vetrata ed offrendo una maggiore vista all’offerta dei prodotti Blaas. La composizione razionalista di tutte le facciate preserva il carattere scultoreo dell’esistente. Nuovi alberi sono stati piantati sulla copertura creando un microclima piacevole e valorizzando visivamente ancora di più l'intera area.
