Onda Parametrica
Museo MAXXI Roma Rome / Italy / 2010
Progetto per il nuovo Archivio della sala Studio Fotografia - Sala Carlo Scarpa - MAXXI Roma - 2010.
The idea for the “Parametric Wave” architectonic project, which is going to be the audio-video wall where to consult the photographic archive inside the MAXXI, was born from the will to combine the object’s morphology with environmental data, while accomplishing the main function of the hall: the audio-visual one.
The challenge was creating an equipped wall that could be able to optimize the hall acoustics through sound parameters that define a complex geometry: the object’s aesthetics ensues from the mathematical analysis of the sound.
Using particular software became possible to mathematically associate sound waves’ behavior with the wall’s shape. The parametrical wave is that particular form that, better than any other manages to contain and absorb acoustic waves’ bumps, avoiding sound reflection through it’s’ geometries, convexes, concaves and barriers.
