This apartment is situated right in the center of the Jordaan-area in Amsterdam, at the top two floors of a historical building. The client asked for both a home and a place to entertain.

On the residential floor, the black high gloss volumes are projected like the wings of a stage. This scenery of black volumes contain all necessary functional elements, such as kitchen and storage. The floor is entered and exited through the wings of the stage: behind the volumes the stairs form the passages, completely done in warm red.

The top floor houses the bedroom and part of the bathroom underneath a historic arch-roof construction. The separate room with the toilet and shower are tiled with red mosaic, as if revealing yet another passage way to a different world.

Dit appartement bevindt zich midden in de Jordaan op de bovenste twee verdiepingen van een historisch pand. Behalve een thuis wilde de opdrachtgever een plek om te kunnen entertainen.

Op de woonverdieping vormen de zwarte hoogglans 'coulissen' het toneel. Dit decor van zwarte volumes is opgebouwd uit de functionele invulling, de keuken en kastruimte van het appartement. Men betreedt en verlaat de verdiepingen via de coulissen: achter de volumes bevinden zich de trappen als doorgangen, geheel in het warm rood uitgevoerd.

Op de bovenverdieping bevindt zich onder een historische boog-kapconstructie het slaapvertrek met een deels badkamer. De aparte ruimte met toilet en douche is betegeld met rood mozaïek, alsof zich hier weer een doorgang naar een andere wereld bevindt.
