Allow me to introduce myself – my name is Ayelet Fisher and I own a studio specializing in designing spaces for public and private institutions with an emphasis on the field of education, such as schools, play centers, kindergartens and more.
I came into the field of designing educational environments almost by accident and with a lot of luck. Following a donation to HaYarden School in Tel Aviv, the school where mainly foreign and underprivileged children are educated, I was invited to plan and design the public spaces. The project was done voluntarily, and I entered it out of a sense of mission and love. Most of the children educated at HaYarden School are coping with complex lives and school is for them a significant anchor of security, almost like a second home, at times a first home. Therefore, it was important to me to create a place that is happy and accepting, where they can feel safe. For weeks I studied, researched, invested all my efforts in reading materials, conversations with professionals, and based on the educational insights I had gained from the process, I started to design the space, while thinking about the children, the teachers and the relationship between them and the space.
The project proved to me that an educational environment designed with purpose and sensitivity can impact how the children experience the place where they spend a significant portion of their lives, by using color, creativity and a lot of love.
Design and architecture must be accessible and abstract, so the children can use the spaces in different ways, which develops creative thinking and let the imagination run free.
I design spaces at different and varied budget levels, but it is important to me that they are always pleasant and inviting.
I invite you to take a look and see the projects and works I have been involved with.
