As the founder and chief architect of Wuyuan Village Culture Media Co., Ltd., Wang Wanbin has been devoted to rural construction for over two decades, during which he steered a dozen of benchmark projects in rural revitalization and cultural tourism development. With a long-term vision and practices rooted in genius loci, he has established a systematic team that works on a wide spectrum of aspects including planning, investment, design, construction, and operation, making continuous efforts to explore ideal rural lifestyles that harmonize art, nature, culture, and business.
Adhering to "idealistic" rural nostalgia and delving into local values, Wang Wanbin has crystallized his thoughts and experiences on the interplay between art, countryside and life into a systematic methodology for rural construction and design practices drawing on the wisdom of traditional Chinese gardens. Through a holistic approach from both physical and spiritual perspectives, he deconstructs and reinterprets traditional cultural elements in a way that aligns them with contemporary values, in order to breathe new life into traditional villages and handicrafts, and to forge connections between the past, present, and future of local cultural context.
Wang Wanbin was honored as one of the "Top Ten Designers of the Year" in the Most Beautiful Public Cultural Space Competition 2022. His design projects have received the accolade of "Most Beautiful Rural Public Cultural Space" multiple times. Huangling, a masterpiece of ancient village revitalization that he steered for fifteen years, was selected as the "Best Tourism Village" by the United Nations World Tourism Organization in 2023, and was exhibited at the world-class cultural event Frankfurter Buchmesse.
