Unagru is an architecture, urbanism and landscape design practice based in London. The office was founded by Davide di Martino as a network for discussion, description, and design related to the urban domain. Unagru stands for "one crane". The sight of a crane, bird of the family Gruidae, guarding a harsh industrial landscape struck our imagination as the embodiment of independence, grit, and resilience. On the other side, the crane, the machine used for hoisting heavy objects is a fascinating combination of natural power and human technology that enables change. Unagru embodies and playfully embraces our hybrid technical and natural realm.

Our work is deeply embedded in context. Each project is developed through continuous feedback and participation of clients and consultants. The design develops from the inside and is focused on space, which is then expressed to the exterior of the building. We believe in the ability of space to influence people's lifes, affecting layers of perception that deserve research and attention. Design is ultimately a changing process that involves people's everyday life and should express their needs, therefore our process focuses on defining the needs as much as providing solutions. Good design is an exciting, experimental and life changing experience to both clients and designers.

We like quality and make sure things work properly, energy stays inside, money and time are not wasted, and people are at the centre of the process.
