Loominology

Loominology was founded in 1943 by an Anatolian farmer who sold his land and devoted all his savings into the manufacturing and sales of rugs. He was also responsible for manufacturing and then exposing carpets from Central Anatolia to Istanbul. Combining its experience and expertise with international partners and management team, Loominology is now operating in seven countries over three continents. This places Loominology in a unique position regarding its production capacity and its know-how. The name Loominology comes from "Loom", "In o" and "Logy" . As noun, "Loom" allude to hand-operated or power-driven apparatus for making fabric by weaving yarn. As verb, it refers to the art of weaving. "In o" means in "love" and "Logy" indicates the science or the study of a specific field. So Loominology is involved in the art of weaving and specialized in it.

Loominology's philpsophy

The components and sensitivities that guide Loominology’s awareness enable it to work like a platform. In its continuous pursuit to satisfy its customers, a need to also establish the best standards for the industry was assumed. To distribute a better understanding of the handcraft and working processes of this ageless craft Loominology endeavours to preserve its commitment to nurturing the time honoured methodology of carpet making, whilst promoting ecologically accountable and sustainable ways of quality production.

The methodology used in Loominology

Loominology uses two tipology of classic engineering weaving technique: the turkish symmetrical knot and persian-tibetan asymmetrical knot. The first one traces back to the ancient Steppe. The Turkish knot is a true manifestation of the unity of form and function. As with most art forms that transcend time, the process and discipline with which it is made answers construction and durability concerns. Loominology is uniquely placed in regards to meeting this original weaving requirement. A vast community of manufacturers that preserve this technique produce within the Loominology community. Loominology leads the international theatre in this rarest, strongest, most durable and time intensive weaving procedure. While, the Asymmetrical or Persian knot delivers both artistry and refinement. A method that was born in the Persian villages, soon thereafter began to be crafted in the royal courts. The Asymmetrical knot carpets offer a vast variety of design and colour possibilities, still meeting contemporary commercial and residential requirements centuries after its inception.
