coLAB studio is…
an award-winning cooperative studio of artists, architects, and consultants working together to generate place-based designs that are both data-driven and warmly experiential.
We create architecture, public art, master plans, studio art, and work with communities. We look for the greatest potential with every project opportunity as we design a project process. We aim to make that process as unique, exhilarating, and high-performing as the end result- and for everyone involved.
Founded in 1999, our studio has completed 58 projects- about half are architectural buildings and master plans, and half are public art installations. We bring experience from this wide range of work into everything we do - thinking as architects, artists, and explorers of building science.
We create projects that adhere to five timeless factors of what makes a project objectively successful and good. These are: Beautiful, Memorable, Well-Loved, Well-Functioning, and Environmentally Balanced. You may read more about these factors here, in our own words.
