Butterfly Original

Butterfly Original is the manufacturer brand of the Butterfly chair, an icon of 20th century design. It exudes history, culture and tradition from every pore. Since its creation in 1938, this piece has been revalued over time and, consequently, many replicas have appeared over the decades. Butterfly Original works hard to defend the originality of the piece: it is the official distributor of the authentic BKF chair, whose craftsmanship workshop is in Barcelona. The Butterfly chair

Although it is also known as BKF - the initials of its creators, the architects Bonet, Kurchan and Ferrari - the Butterfly chair is popularly known as 'butterfly' because of the similarity between the shape of its structure and the silhouette of the insect. Made from bovine hides from Brittany, France, tanned with vegetable extracts of mimosa and quebracho. In the Barcelona workshop, the cover of the BKF chair is hand-sewn with German Gütermann threads. The master craftsman combines the use of triple feed head machines and hand stitching to achieve the highest level of detail. This cover rests on a 12mm diameter solid steel frame, hand polished and painted in black epoxy. The design of the Butterfly chair is inspired by nature and it is through the mimicry of patterns already created - such as the wings of a butterfly - that this graceful yet robust piece is achieved. What makes the Butterfly chair extremely interesting and innovative is its versatility: thanks to the covers which are also sold separately, it is possible to combine the structure with the different ones, making the product customizable and suitable for every context.
