China Red Star Design Award, a professional design award supported by Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, is together initiated by China Industrial Design Association and Beijing Industrial Design Center in 2006. Since the creation, it has been adhering to the principle of “Fairness, Justice, Commonweal, Top-level and Internationalization”. Red Star Award has become the most authoritative and most influential design award in China, and is praised by CCTV as "the only design award with international influence in China".
There has been more than 60,000 products of 8,000 companies from more than 30 countries to join Red Star since 2006. The domestic participating area covers all 34 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan province. The participants include thousands of domestic and foreign companies such as Audi, Volvo, Samsung, Dell, CRRC, COMAC, and Lenovo etc. Many of the applied products come from high technology areas like the new generation of information technology, energy saving and environmental protection, new materials, advanced manufacturing, virtual reality, unmanned driving and so on.
China Red Star Design Award has invited more than 200 experts from nearly 20 countries in the fields of design, science and technology, economics, and media to join the judging. It sets up the evaluation criteria in conjunction with world-renowned design award rules and national conditions, and establishes strict evaluation procedures. Red Star Award signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Red Dot Design Award from German, and reached mutual recognition with“Good Design Award” from Korea and Australian International Design Award, symbolizes good design of China recognized by the international design community.
Over the past 14 years, Red Star Award has held more than 179 touring exhibitions in 40 cities including Paris, Milano, Nairobi, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen etc, with more than 3.3 million visit of person times. Some important media have made extensive reports on Red Star Award such as China Central Television, People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Science and Technology Daily, Beijing Daily and so on. The awarded companies also promoted themselves with Red Star Mark.
Red Star Award cooperates with partners in e-commerce, media, culture, technology, finance and other fields such as Alibaba, JD.com, Visual China, and Suzhou Library.
