Meural

Meural was founded in August 2014 by friends Vladimir Vukicevic and Jerry Hu, first generation immigrants who met at NYU during freshman orientation. Before starting Meural, Vlad was the co-founder and CTO at RocketHub, a leading crowdfunding platform that empowered artists. Jerry was a product manager at FreshDirect, and a former docent for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.After building a small team of passionate experts, Meural was incubated out of an artist collective in the Lower East Side, sourcing feedback straight from artists. The first year was spent on R&D: developing the right display, building the ambient light sensor, creating gesture control, and designing the frames. Since then, we’ve constantly been asking our users what we can do better, and acting on it. This has helped us sculpt our collection of art—as well as the physical product. Our goal is to democratize art. We believe art is for everyone, and we’re dedicated to bringing it into homes of all shapes and sizes. To do so, we combine the best of art, technology, and design to create products that make us feel something. We make sure artists are properly compensated, and we support them at every step in their career.
