HAOS is: furniture and objects designed by Sophie Gelinet and Cedric Gepner, a Paris-based couple whose main ambition is the satisfaction of a job well done. HAOS is: the desire to make an aesthetic statement based on sculptural shapes with refined and minimalist lines. HAOS is: a slow design philosophy that translates in purposely limited quantities and a compulsive attention to detail. HAOS is: premium materials selected with great care, shaped by the best European craftsmen and assembled by hand in our Parisian workshop.
In 2017, HAOS wrote the first page of its story with its lighting collection, an undeniable illustration of its philosophy: precision craftsmanship that finds its expression in minimalist style. Ceramic cylinders, brass and blown glass elements come together to create table lamps, ceiling lights and wall lights. The ceramic pieces are handmade in Normandy, the brass is shaped near Paris, on spinning machines dating back to the early 20th century, and the glass globes are mouth-blown and sandblasted near London.
HAOS then took two years to design and find the right craftsmen to give birth to a second collection: a bench, and a stool that doubles as a side table. Matte cherry-tree structures are complemented by seats in handmade glossy ceramic, and come with a choice of cushions. A nod to French mid-century design with the HAOS twist, made in Lisbon and Porto and assembled in Paris.
