At Sitzfeldt, everything revolves around the sofa – the most essential piece of furniture in every home. The business was founded eight years ago in Berlin by Anna Köppen, her brother Clemens Deyerling and their friend Julius Martini. Together they were on a mission: Making people sit better, together. All sofas and accessories – armchairs, stools, cushions and blankets – are conceived by their renowned in-house designers and produced sustainably in Europe.
The sofa is everything: design object and everyday habitat. It’s a visual and aesthetic centrepiece, but also the place where you can let your hair down and truly be yourself. Right from the start, the team behind Sitzfeldt understood that a sofa has to do so much more than just blending into the interior. First and foremost, it has to be comfortable and be able to live its owner’s life with them, change with them, if need be. That’s why Sitzfeldt sofas are available in all colours, fabrics and leathers. The modular sofas can be configured, changed and extended. No wonder Sitzfeldt has won several awards, such as the Red Dot Design Award and the German Design Award.
Great design also depends on great materials and craftsmanship. That’s why the sofas are made sustainably in Europe, often by small family run businesses, like the fabrics which are produced in Italy and the Netherlands. The leather comes from a tannery in Germany, where it has been awarded the Blauer Engel environmental label, and the wood for the solid frames is sustainably forested. And thanks to those short distances, Sitzfeldt is able to keep their CO2-footprint incredibly low.
Since day one, Sitzfeldt is working with the same suppliers. For when it comes to quality, sustainability and fair pricing, confidence and trust are essential, and a close connection, of course. "When we’re manufacturing a new model, I’m able to drive over to the workshop and have a look myself, see that everything is perfect”, says co-founder Anna. “That’s impossible when your manufacturer is at the other end of the world.”
All sofas can be ordered online from the comfort of your home. Delivery takes six to eight weeks. It’s premium, free of charge and straight to your living room. You have 100 days to try the sofa and decide whether you love the new addition to the family or not. Returns are free too and the full price will be refunded.
