Neap d.o.o., based in Novo mesto, Slovenia, is an architecture and interior design studio. It is an established practice which works on architecture and interior design of medium-sized and large buildings, urban structures, office and cultural buildings for both the public and private sector.
The studio works with the best planning companies and contractors in Europe. Our projects are led by renowned experts, engineers and artists who contribute their fresh ideas and personal touch to the company’s contemporary image. Some are employees and others contractors.
The projects are led by Borut Simič, B.Arch., art director of Neap as well as its head architect. Neap has been using latest computer technology to support planning, modelling and know-how for many years. We believe innovation, contemporary design and research are a guarantee for future commissions.
Continuity of practice and over twenty years of experience are an important reference for our clients who appreciate the fresh, creative spirit of the studio's designs. In our opinion, rational, well thought out concepts are timeless. The quality of the products lies in carefully planned detail.
The studio's work includes industrial constructions from Germany to Russia, where a sports hall was designed for the president's residence. Preliminary designs were made for a tourist complex in Adjaria by the Black Sea and a number of branch banks in Slovenia and Croatia.
The past few years have been very productive. We have gained a lot of experience in planning schools, business premises, cultural centres and other challenging constructions. Numerous prizes and awards at architecture and design competitions have confirmed our efforts. The most impressive are the constructions that have been realized. Labod fashion store in Novo mesto was nominated for the Plečnik medal in 1999. Several projects for larger schools followed in the next few years, in 2002 the institution for higher education VŠUP Novo mesto and a year later OŠ Stična elementary school, whose design inspired others to follow in the same footsteps. Along with a few designs for medium-sized kindergartens and schools, the studio participated in the competition for University campus in Novo mesto with its beautiful contemporary design.
Among other realized projects are Apt Teater – an avant-garde theatre and a youth hostel Situla in the Novo mesto city centre with the help of EU funding. The studio was awarded first prize at the anonymous Slovene public design competition for the Cultural and Pastoral Centre of the Serbian Orthodox community in Ljubljana, located in the city centre, an important part of cultural heritage. The studio is currently working on the conceptual design of the first skyscraper outside Ljubljana.
