Established in 2010 in the merchant city of Porto in Portugal, FRATO is proud to be a family-run company in a world full of corporations. FRATO is a combination of the names of the founders’ two sons and a playful take on the word fraternity. It is a moniker that perfectly encapsulates the business values, and the desire to nurture integrity, authenticity and honesty in all of the endeavours. From its beginnings as a high-end jewellery house, over time FRATO grew into a luxury interiors label, one that applies the same artisanal approach and jeweller’s eye for detail to each of its exquisite furniture pieces. A meticulous fusion of traditional craftsmanship and forward-thinking sophistication, FRATO’s unique interior lifestyle concept is inspired by the world’s rich mix of cultures and most magnificent places. The result is a carefully crafted collection of pieces for the home that reimagines heritage shapes and glamorous materials in a way that feels both refreshingly original and eternally elegant.

FRATO’s collection encompasses furniture, lighting, upholstery and rugs, named after and inspired by a city from around the globe. Each piece has in common a refined silhouette, sharp tailoring and an elevated materiality. Marble and stone accents expertly offset with metals and exotic wood veneers, while natural fabrics, from silk and velvet to wool and leather, add softness metals, which include brass, steel and iron are manually prepared . All of this packaged in a gentle palette of complimentary colours for a seamless finish. That’s the FRATO signature. Each masterpiece can be customized according to the library of different materials and finishes, while proportions can be precisely altered to suit individual spaces and lifestyles. Drawing on more than 40 years of manufacturing experience, FRATO’s state-of-the-art facilities are located in a region of Portugal that has long been associated with quality furniture-making. Master craftsmen continue to contribute to this heritage, employing a wealth of artisanal skills and cutting-edge techniques in their pursuit of excellence.

FRATO’s international lifestyle concept was first unveiled to widespread acclaim at Paris’s Maison & Objet in 2011 and has since become a greatly anticipated highlight of the leading annual design fair. In 2018, the showcase was greatly expanded, including: Design Shanghai; the Salone del Mobile, the anchor event of Milan Design Week, which brings together more than 2,300 of the world’s most dynamic and creative companies; plus the dynamic Downtown Design Dubai, the Middle East’s largest celebration of original, high-quality design. Continuing to evolve and grow, FRATO has gone on to establish a global presence, opening its first space in 2014 at Harrods in London’s prestigious Knightsbridge neighbourhood, transforming the third floor of the iconic department store into a one-stop solution for luxury interiors. In 2018, FRATO unveiled a 400-square-metre flagship in the United Arab Emirates on the first floor of the prestigious The Dubai Mall, near The Waterfalls. In 2019, a second presence was established in London at the distinguished Design Centre Chelsea Harbour. Established as the world’s premier destination for design excellence, DCCH takes a couture approach to the home, making it the perfect fit for FRATO’s tailored aesthetic. These four showrooms are further complemented by a series of international partnerships that include leading retail locations in Saigon, Shanghai, Singapore, Riyadh and Wenzhou.
