In 2005 Enrico Corelli, owner of Epic, founded PLH® as a challenge: he wanted to give electric plates a new and luxurious look, tailored to give a unique identity to an element that has long been ignored by design and considered a peripheral aspect of décor and interior design. A long, inquisitive and passionate journey, including planning and great attention to the productive process, has brought this aim to fruition: trial tests on materials and their reaction, a thorough selection of committed suppliers, the realisation and engineering of the first prototypes and, subsequently, production through CNC numerical control machines. Last but not least, great attention has been dedicated to ergonomics - the plate is easy to install and safety is guaranteed - and to creativity: shapes, dimensions and finish define this plate as a “sartorial” decorative object, meeting every client’s and user’s needs.

Values

The PLH® plate is the result of a union between beauty and technology and, therefore it doesn’t want to shy away, it wants to be seen as an interior design statement, a trait that makes it unique. All of this is a sign of the fundamental values that characterise PLH’s vision; qualitative excellence, formal beauty, durability and reliability, eye for detail and life-cycle sustainability of products. To respond to all these challenges, PLH® has garnered the energy of young talented Italian professionals who have made their specific know-how available together with the genius and experience of the founder. Trained in Industrial engineering and passionate about art, decorative and applied, Corelli is engaged in electric design, in general and particularly in building automation which has given him the opportunity to meet internationally known architects and so to expand his planning vision; stimulating his desire to test himself in product design, first with lighting devices and, subsequently, with electric control plates. The first result of this mixed technology and design approach is MakeUp. From then on, PLH® has enriched its catalogue with four new collections, each one aesthetically distinctive: Keyboard, Skin, Slim and Neo. For each one of these projects, important effective partnerships with high-profile world-known brands such as Jannelli&Volpi, Kvadrat, De Castelli, Antique Mirror, Mutaforma, Haute Material and SAI Industry and Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana have been undertaken. In addition to manual control panels, wireless-mode panels have been introduced, that are constituent elements of the PLH® Aria system; an ideal collection for private homes and for public and commercial buildings. From a production perspective, the distinctive element of all collections is the machining from solid method, from 10mm sheets of stainless 316L steel, brass, 6082 aluminium, copper and DuPont™ Corian®, through a single mould procedure with CNC, numerical control machines.

Products' production

The entire production process follows a certified, traceable and rigorously Made in Italy chain, defined after a meticulous selection of the actors in the supply chain. For every phase and type of processing, PLH® and its staff avail themselves of experts and the top companies in the field to guarantee the best quality and finish. The work starts and is developed in the PLH® technical department, where each commission and order is prepared and managed, with rapid prototyping and process optimization, after which, the following operations are carried out by the technicians and the highly skilled workforce:
• Mechanical production with CNC directed tools with 3 or 5 axes;
• Branding pre or post treatment with laser or plotter UV paint;
• Surface finishing: sanding, satin finish, polishing;
• The surface treatment: painting, galvanic anodization, acid-etching treatment, PVD
• Bespoke cutting of Skin material;
• Assembly;
• Testing and quality control;
• PLH® proprietary packaging.
