The renewed Dotandcross® brand - an Italian start-up founded in Treviso in 2013 on an idea that came to Margherita Rui of dogtrot to create an interior project for children - to an international public.
Dotandcross® Hug, a flexible bed that accompanies children from birth to 10 years of age by gradually transforming to meet their growing needs. It can be used as a crib thanks to an adjustable supporting structure (the raised mattress base lets you lie your baby down and pick it up effortlessly), a cot bed and a two-seater sofa for children after the wooden front side has been removed.
Dotandcross® Hug is a snug embrace to sleep, grow and play in surrounded by soft fabrics, protected from noise and concealed from intrusive eyes. It’s a safe haven, a beautiful, sturdy and resistant object that teaches children to appreciate natural materials, their textures and colours. It’s a place to feel free in where a child’s imagination can fly high.
Only a cot bed that has replaced its sides with precious panels can create a space capable of offering all this.
From necessity to virtue, from the need to surround and protect to the ability to embrace and cradle. Dotandcross® Hug is made up of two sides covered with plain or quilted fabric and is available in four colour options: cream, green petrol, soft pink and powder blue. Your child’s wellbeing becomes an opportunity to try mixing and matching different colours and finishes.

After graduating in design at the Politecnico di Milano, she began her career at Fabrica, Benetton’s communication research centre, where she stayed until 2001. From 2001 to 2005 she was teaching assistant at the IUAV University of Venice for the Web Design, Multimedia and Digital Design courses. Meanwhile, from 2002 to 2009, she joined Hangar Design Group becoming the creative director of the Italian headquarters in Venice and collaborating with offices in Milan and New York. At that time she came into contact with some of the most important Italian brands in the field of design, fashion and jewellery. Margherita is now working as creative director for Dogtrot, a communication and design agency she founded in 2009. She is currently creative director for Novamobili, Nidi, Love for and Lay (Archiutti).
Founded in 2009 in Treviso by Margherita Rui and Alessandro Rado, Dogtrot is a communication and design studio headquartered in Treviso numbering twenty-five employees. It believes that an omnichannel strategy is the way to coordinate brand development, through unified creative and strategic management. It works on branding; visual, digital and social identity; products and interior design; exhibition, retail and micro-architecture projects for the furniture, tourism, fashion and food industries. Major clients include: Novamobili, Nidi, Kristalia, Ideagroup, Tubes, Rexa Design, Segafredo, Pedon, Tabarro.
