In 1969, the Dickson mill merged with the Eugène Constant weaving company, which had been operating in Lille since 1913. In 1998, Dickson joined the American group Glen Raven, national and international leader for outdoor fabrics. In 2008 Dickson launched the first photovoltaic fabric prototype.
Today, Dickson is recognized as the benchmark for supreme quality outdoor fabrics. The products are marketed under the two brands DICKSON® and SUNBRELLA®. Due to its focus on innovation, Dickson provides solutions for different markets: solar protection, outdoor living spaces, interior decorating and boating equipment. The origins of Dickson Constant SAS, French producer of technical textiles, date back to 1836 when the Scot David Dickson opened the first French linen mill in northern France. In 1909, Dickson had already become the supplier of tents for the French national Defense. In 1945, Dickson introduced the first textiles made of synthetic fibres that provided increased durability.
