Köhl, German producer of office and contract seatings, was founded in 1976 by Inge und Günter Köhl. Ever since, the company's headquarter has been situated in Rödermark, in Ober-Roden. Initial presentation occurs at the first Orgatec show in Cologne in 1976. In 1980 Köhl wins the biggest order to date in its company history, as the regional finance office North Rhine-westphalia needs 17865 new office swivel chairs. In 2003 the collection Salveo is launched, followed by Selleo in 2004. Aureo and Calixo are designed and launched both in 2009, followed by Anteo in 2011. In 2013, Köhl develops SlimLine, an innovative fabric available both for Anteo, as well as for Consito: SlimLine is a 3D multi-layer fabric that perfectly combines functionality with aesthetics. The cushions of these productlines provide a perfect support for the back and the shoulders, offering at the same time a high amount of pleasant flexibility.
Sustainability, the clients' well-being and ecological production processes are only some of the key concepts which make up the company philosopy. Also due to this way of thinking, Köhl has turned into an innovative manufactory, which produces high-quality seatings "made in Germany". The company's main principles can be summed up as follows:
1. ecological efficiency - environmental protection and sustainability are very important during all stages of the production process. Anteo is an important examples for this way of thinking as the chairs belonging to this collection are recycable to 95 %. In the context of "plant-my-tree", Köhl planted more than 200 trees in the Hessian Forest of Odes.
2. ergonomics & functionality - comfortable chairs and a correct posture are two concepts that do not exclude each other
3. quality & service
4. design and innovation - the seating systems are oriented towards the clients' desires and claims; in order to offer always the best quality, Köhl is collaborating with the most important designers in this field.
