Rough Front is a design studio whose projects propose new ideas of architectural space, ornamentation, surface design, and detail. Rough Front blends cutting edge design and manufacturing technology with analog methods and an appetite for conceptual tensions: precision versus indeterminacy; analog versus digital; pre-industrial versus post-industrial methods of fabrication; formal excess versus minimalist restraint. Eschewing convention and expediency, the studio values the complex notion, the intricate pattern, the rough surface, and the soft form.
