C.T. ARCHITECTS
Since the establishing of the practice in 2008, C.T. ARCHITECTS have successfully engaged with all dimensions of architectural and urban design rather than focusing on narrow specialisms. They are currently involved in a wide range of projects at different scales, ranging from urban planning and regeneration to public buildings and housing in Belgium.

Recent projects include a care home in Bilzen, Belgium; the New Station District in Sint Truiden and a 'New Utopia' for Belgian Coastal developments. All of which have been published nationally as well as internationally.
The work of the practice has been extensively published and exhibited and many of their designs have won awards. The practice has also won international recognition for ‘innovative research in architecture’ (Distinction Award, Architectural Association London) and 'architectural excellence' (Meesterproef, Flemish Bouwmeester and Dutch Rijksbouwmeester). The studio, led by Nick Ceulemans and Liesbet Thewissen, investigates and produces spatial concepts aiming to (re-) intensify existing landscapes --whether urban, cultural or domestic-- in the pursuit of a strong commitment to realize high-quality spatial output. The development of these concepts into strategies or clear built forms is never driven by a predetermined stylistic house style, but by a consistent philosophical approach, proposing an original synthesis of technical rigor, formal imagination and discipline integration between architecture, landscape and environment. All projects are informed by a sensitive approach to place, the experiential potential of materials and construction, and a concern for the environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainability. The practice is also committed to
a research-based approach, which is supported by both partners’ academic work and their participation in international architectural competitions and juries, creating an architecture that is contemporary and deeply rooted in its context, at all scales.
