Rom & Tonik

Rom & Tonik is founded by industrial designers Mats and Birgitte, two very different designers with the same dream of bringing a product into life. Educated at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology they have a close connection to one of the most important academic clusters of acoustic technology in Norway. This was also the spark that set fire to the whole adventure, as it all began with a research project on the technical properties of wool and the question, what else could it be used for?

“We discovered that wool is a brilliant raw material. It has a lot of great technical properties. It is for example a natural flame retardant, absorbs moisture and dampens sound surprisingly well. At the same time wool is entirely natural and when realizing that rough sheep’s wool is redundant in many areas across the world we saw a unique opportunity in making use of this resource.” - Birgitte
