Atypyk

Atypyk was created in 1999, when two long standing friends joined forces professionally. Both Jean Sébastien Ides and Ivan Duval, had until this moment been occupied in their respective domains, graphic design and publicity. Since its establishment there has been creation after creation, Jean Sébastien Ides and Ivan Duval play with the concept of daily life and create a collection of objects with a twist. "By tapping into humour, twisting ideas, and exploring the idea that the future is only an extension of the past, Atypyk make us reflect not on the object as a simple object, but more the reasoning for the object. This approach characterises Atypyk’s work which introduces design not as an end but as a way to stimulate our creative reactions to the objects we come across in our daily lives. It is a process that requires complicity and the participation of the user, and one in which importance is given first to the past sense of the object before a purely formal and aesthetic approach."
