AT 103 was founded in 2001, initiating a strong commitment towards architecture and design. Leading a multidisciplinary group, with a clear intention to investigate and create new techniques for architecture in the contemporary city, AT 103 combines advanced computer technology with simple handicraft, achieving what they call “low tech – high resolution effects”. Julio Amezcua and Francisco Pardo make architecture with unique constructive and esthetic qualities, thanks in part to their training both in Mexico and abroad. Their portfolio includes a wide range and scales of work, from art pieces to urban projects, engaging a multitude of scales and typologies, including single-family houses, residential, cultural and institutional buildings, landscape and master planning, as well as the Ave Fenix Fire Station, for which they earned in 2008 a silver medal in the Mexican Biennale, and the first place in the International Design Festival. In 2009, AT 103 was part of the selection at Emerging Voices 2009 by the Architectural League of New York. They recieved a silver medal in 2010 Mexican Biennale for the building Lisboa 7, and the same prize in 2012 for their apartment building TK139. Also in 2012, their Lisboa 7 building was awarded with the First Prize in Quito’s Biennale. London’s Wallpaper magazine named AT103 one of the World’s 50 hottest young Architects Practices, and Icon magazine listed the firm as one of the 50 architects and designers who are shaping the future. Francisco Pardo and Julio Amezcua are members of Mexico’s National Creators System. AT 103′s partners have taught at UC Berkeley, Pratt Institute, UPenn, UNAM and Iberoamericana. They have lectured all over Mexico and other countries, dedicated to motivate and shape the thinking of future architects through their personal and professional life experience, based on their former education at Paris, Los Angeles, Mexico City and New York.
