An app to tame them all...

Only one day to the official opening of the Milan Design Week 2014 (MDW for friends) and so many events to attend! Finding myself in Milan in this period, after some days of casual browsing, I decided to search and install a proper app to keep track of all the events that will be going on in the city. I was expecting to find many (the event is huge after all), but in the end the really useful ones were the three ones you can find down there.

...And, in the glimmering light of the parties, binding them all together!

Here are the apps that after a "search and try" session remained installed on my phone:

1. "Interni"

Interni is the "historic" magazine that may years ago began to add, to its April issues, a little book dedicated to all (all!) the events of the Milan Design Week. And the app that they have developed is the enhanced digital version of that booklet. It offers a complete and full guide to all the events by date, by brand name, by location (depending on where you are) and let you also add favorites, that can be very useful considering how many events there are. You can find the app for the iPhone here(https://itunes.apple.com/it/app/interni-fuorisalone-2014/id355707488?mt=8) and the one for android here (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.guidafuorisalone.app).

2. "Fuorisalone"

Fuorisalone is not only the name that has been given to the series of events that burst around the city during the MDW, but also the company that tries to keep track and organize all of them in a more complete way. So its app keep track of almost all of them, listing them by date, by location, by name or by area. Here you can find the link to the iPhone and android apps: http://fuorisalone.it/2013/mobileguides/guida.

3. Tortona Around Design

Zona Tortona is one of the most important areas for the MDW events, the area where almost all the Fuorisalone has born, and they have developed their app too, with all the list of events inside the area. Events are listed by location or by name and there is an "augmented reality" feature to find which ones are going on around you.The iPhone app is "coming soon" (it's one days from the beginning!) and the android one is already available. Here is the link for both versions: http://www.tortonaroundesign.com/app

The missing apps

I hoped that also the other design district that will be rich with events, like the Brera design district, Ventura Lambrate and Porta venezia in Design, would have developed their apps, but they didn't. So all you can do is saving the links to their wesite guides as bookmarks on your smartphone, or, even more handy, directly on your home screen. Here are the links to the guides:

Brera design district: http://www.breradesigndistrict.it/index,

Ventura Lambrate : http://www.venturaprojects.com/program/

Porta venezia in Design: http://www.portaveneziaindesign.com/
