From February 27 to March 2 Shanghai becomes the centre of international Design with Shanghai's first truly international design event. The four-day event Design Shanghai is expected to attract over 40,000 architects, interior designers, developers, designers, key decision makers and China's most affluent design conscious consumers. The event will be held at the iconic Shanghai Exhibition Centre, built in 1955 as the Sino Soviet Friendship Building and recently renovated in the world's most exciting and fastest growing city.

Design Shanghai's success is almost guaranteed thanks to a joint venture between award winning British design trade event organiser Media 10 (Grand Designs Live, Ideal Home Show, Clerkenwell Design Week, 100% design, London) and Shanghai Art Fair Organisation (Shanghai Art Fair) spearheaded by Mr Gu.

More than 100 world-renowned design brands will be presented to Chinese audience, 90% of which have never been seen before in China, including the likes of Innermost, &TRADITION, PINCH, Carl Hansen & Søn, Munna, Buster + Punch, Ginger & Jagger, as well as shanghai based design team Neri & Hu Design and Research Office who already collaborate with European manufacturers like Moooi©, BD Barcelona Design and GANDIA BLASCO.

Design Shanghai will be spread into Contemporary, Classic and Collectible halls, with overall area of 10,000 square metres in the stunning, newly renovated Russian-style Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Three separate dragons will represent each hall at the show: Contemporary Design, Classic Design and Collectible Design, creating a unique identity for each section.

The exhibition will also be complimented by an impressive selection of curatorial content from leading western and Chinese designers. Features at Design Shanghai will include: commissioned entrance tunnels, outdoor installations, champagne bar, auction lounge, pop-up Café and seminar theatres.

Design Shanghai is sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover and Archiproducts and Archilovers are delighted to be associated with the event as media-partners. We will be bringing you news and previews of the event as we receive them. Watch this space!
