In a small fishing village in northern Spain, Iñaki Leite Architects has created a project with an innovative and sustainable format: dezanove house, a summer residence with wonderful views of the sea and close to a private beach.

It will come as no surprise, that this residence has been certified with the highest energy class: the merit is due mainly to the use of recycled wood, which has been integrated into the structural system of the building.

The old wood, coming from small local boats, called 'bateas', was recovered and used for the outer cladding of the house; the wood used for the interior, however, was obtained from the inner part cut from the original beams.

A complex system of ventilation has been prepared in order to reduce energy consumption, which is accompanied by an extensive use of glazed surfaces with southern exposure, combined with sun protection elements.
