The Florence office Giraldi Associati Architetti has designed the new Manila Grace Store by recovering the rooms inside an historic building in the centre of Bologna, protected as a national heritage.

The challenge faced by the architects was to reproduce the style and character of the clothing brand while respecting the formal identity of the existing space.

Wood is the absolute protagonist of the intervention: the partition walls are characterized by dense succession of irregular blocks that contain the shelves on which the clothes hang, while sectioned tree trunks provide display bases for accessories and footwear.

Panels that descend from the ceiling and wooden shelves line the spaces, combining the warm wood tones to the aged bronze colour of the Corten and iron. Added to this are the contrasts obtained with the tree-shaped installations made of white lacquered mdf, enriched with lighting fixtures.
