DESIGN_ It has become a fixture at Salone Satellite during every Milan Design Week in Milan. Visit the exhibition stand of Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba is a quick trip in his huge imagination everytime.

Marcantonio is able to create unique pieces of design enriched with artistic concepts. His passion for objects is strictly merged with his artistic streak: 'I would like to inject the manual skill and the importance of unique piece as an artwork' he says.

In 'Greta lamp' beauty meets functional design and they join togheter with an artistic result, as in 'Two Levels Rug' where an original persian rug has been over-painted for an authentic rebirth of the object; or again the 'Table chair' where a simple chair becomes a side table by transforming her original identity.

He creatively make each piece testing different possibilities, sometimes more creatives, sometimes more functionals, and keeping as leitmotiv the hand-made execution.

His main inspiration comes from nature and its life principles, as in the case of '9 Chakra tree', where a chest of drawers serves as a trunk for an halo of branches, reproducing the irradiation by force of nature.

Marcantonio's favourite theme is the connections between Man & Nature: both interpret dynamics and beauties of nature and show the Man's presumption affecting the original.

'I never give up irony, the irony is a serious matter. If a good idea is even fun, I cannot resist to realize it' he says. That's the case of 'Free Table', where he enjoyed to imagine a table with humans traits as a semi-free object, the roller skates make the table very Dadaist and surrealist but at the same time functional and poetic. Each of his creation are a sort of chinese boxes, composed by languages including others languages: dreamlike, absurd, poetic.

'I learned from Art how an idea could be elegant, that's why I'm always looking for pure concepts and summary; my pieces recall, through a contemporary key , the ancient craft and his poetic'.
