INSTALLATION_After the fabulous installation of blue snails on Milan Cathedral during the last autumn, Cracking Art offers a new spectacular performance from 10 April to 20 May.
The installation involves the launch of plastic coloured frogs in the water of the dock from the banks and bridges. “Pienadirane” (“Flood of frogs”) is the title of this installation by Cracking Art group.
An invasion of thousands of colourful frogs in the dock of Navigli during the Salone del Mobile in Milan, during Fan (Water Festival on Navigli), sponsored by the Navigli Lombardi.
The first throw, on April 10 at 6pm, plans to launch about 5.000 frogs. Cracking Art, as with the operation Duomo, will donate thousand of small frog sculptures (cm. 26 x 20 x 8) to the promoter entity.
As you throw a coin in the fountain and make a wish, the collective desire wants a city more creative and careful about the preservation of its history. All works will be recovered and the proceeds of donations for the frogs’ launch in ‘cracking Naviglio’ will contribute to the restoration of an important place of monumental history of the city.
About all its works Cracking Art group – wrotes:
“I have sought the origins of life in the earth’s oldest natural material, that is, petroleum. A black, dense liquid disgorging from the warm womb of Mother Earth, and the natural repository of the planet’s entire history of organic life-forms, from its origins to the present day. I studied the technique know as ‘cracking’, witch breaks up this natural magma into a series of synthetic, artificial derivative products. I discovered plastic, the most modern and extraordinary element that any artist can manipulate. I use objects and shapes in plastic that evoke or simulate nature, so has to reinstate petroleum’s ancient, primary forms of life and imagery. This means turn in life back in its tracks, as a way of finding the poetical voice and soul of art in the material itself.”
