SUN. in co-operation with Caruso D’Angeli Studio, presents the 6th edition of SUN.LAB for a creative outdoor, an international competition for young designers, a stepping stone for design talents.
SUN.LAB is a free platform for research and experimentation that SUN organizes to encourage the emerging of new proposals, innovative design approaches, and new ways to conceive outdoor living.
SUN.LAB 2013 will gather the best production of Italian and foreign designers under 35and of the students of the main international universities, capable to create experimental scenarios, brand new concepts, and projects not yet in production.
A showcase of prototypes and concepts expressing the growing wish to rediscover the pleasure of living in the open, recoverproximity to nature and to respect for the environment and regain control of one’s time and spaces. The competition is aimed at displaying,
during the days of the Show, product prototypes and concepts conceived by young outdoor design talents. An event that enjoys great media coverage and is intended to establish a link between creative minds and companies in the sector.

This year’s theme is SOCIAL ANIMAL.
By nature man tends to congregate in social groups. This theme aims to inspire product-concept design favoring socialization: the sharing of actions, spaces, experiences, activities and interests; interpersonal exchanges and solidarity. Outdoor design as collective anti-stress remedy – as antidote for loneliness.
This form of design focuses on producing outdoor furnishings: permanent or temporary; public (hotels, beach clubs, parks and streets,
shopping malls, etc.) or private (gardens, balconies, terraces, etc.). A vision which interprets outdoor living as an opportunity for socialising, for creating a community feeling and a collective conscience. Products that champion mutual acquaintance and peaceful sharing; communal use (jointly or individually); direct, genuine communication; respect for people and for the environment.
Products to rediscover the pleasure of real, down-to-earth human relations.

All the entries shall be submitted by May 20, 2013.
The selected projects shall be granted a free exhibiting space inside the show SUN.LAB: FOR A CREATIVE OUTDOOR (Rimini Fair 6-8 October 2013). The event shall be set up at the heart of the business area of SUN, in close contact with the main specialized companies.
