The expressive and spirited nature of the Charles coat hook, designed by Nikolas Kerl, is derived from its material combination, untreated ash and polished marble. The complexity of the graduated colors and vivacity of the striking stone awaken an image of a landscape that reveals new impressions again and again.

Formed by nature over centuries, the grain of the marble makes each hook one of a kind. The generous rounding of the front allows clothing to hang without wrinkling its collar. A clothes hanger is located on a rack on the backside. Comes in three different variations.

Dimension: 10 x 6 cm / 4“ x 2,4“

Materials: Coat Hook, untreated ash, polished marble

About Nikolas Kerl

He received his degree as an Industrial Designer from the Zurich University of the Arts. His independent label «Nikolas Kerl Product Design» has been on the Swiss market since 2010.

In collaboration with local artisans, Nikolas Kerl produces pieces of furniture as well as objects for daily use, marked by their confident formal language and an equally curious and meticulous handling of materials. He places great value on retaining the inherent properties of a material, and purposefully presenting the best aspects of this form.

The use of traditional craftsmanship, supplemented by semi-industrial processes in manufactured quality, suits this aspiration.

Nikolas Kerl accompanies his products throughout the entire design process, from building initial prototypes through to final quality control of the finished product.

Nikolas Kerl’s first collection consists of a dining and working table of chestnut and thermo-treated beech, a coffee table of slate and steel, two hand-blown glass vessels, and a lighting object of clay.

These are everyday objects which grow beyond their mere functionality and, in this way, develop a life of their own.
