100% POPLAR, the new Conlegno brand, is proud to present the results of the Monalisa digital design workshop. The aim of the study project, carried out in collaboration with the Department of Architecture and Design of Politecnico di Torino, was to design and construct an architectural masterpiece by using poplar plywood. The winning project of the Monalisa Digital design workshop is The Pop.for.Pav'>Pop.for.Pav pavilion, a tree-like structure made of flat pieces of poplar plywood arranged in a regular pattern imitating a group of poplar trees in a poplar forest. The tree tops were created by ramification of the pieces of plywood based on fractal logic while the architecture created by the trees, arranged in a sequence replicating their growth, illustrated the characteristics and versatility of poplar plywood. The pavilion itinerary, with an initial series of flat poplar elements, then encouraged visitors to pause under the twenty-two trees which, with their curved tree-tops, illustrated the tension generated by the stripping process used to produce plywood. The Pop.for.Pav'>Pop.for.Pav project, part of the Monalisa digital design workshop participated by FabLab Torino, the C.R.A.-PLF Institute in Casal Monferrato, and the Agroselviter Department of the University of Turin, was developed and engineered by the Woodlab Team of Politecnico di Torino.
